This little corner of Bologna is known as La Piccola Venezia, or “Little Venice'', on account of a canal passing under Porta Govese and Torresotto dei Piella. There was pretty much no water in the canal. So I guess the Venice allusions are aspirational. The dry canal sits between buildings painted in terracotta.
